Writing Work

Angus has devised and run workshops for over twenty years, as well as giving readings and talks on aspects of writing.

Registered with the Scottish Book Trust, Angus is available for readings, workshops and commissions.

He was tutor for three years in the Cromarty Masterclass, set up and run by HiArts, and has also acted as mentor for writers in the Highlands

Writer in residence, Aberdeenshire – over the duration of this residence, many projects were devised and steered to fruition, including the publication of ‘Things Not Seen,’ a book of mountain poetry (Ed. Stuart Campbell) and a three-day literary event that brought many outstanding Scottish writers to Banchory.

Writer in Residence, Scottish Sculpture Workshop, Lumsden – this time was spent collecting and assembling narratives from the area. Some were collected, some were imaginative. (I got stories from locals and made others up.)

Tutor for Arvon at Moniack Mhor – Literary Fiction. (With Zoe Strachan)
He has also worked as Writing Tutor for Inverness College and the Workers Educational Association.

Recently he devised and led Poetry in Place – a one-day workshop aimed at drawing inspiration from the countryside – in this case drawing on the environment around Huntly. Participants spent half of the day collecting material on a long walk beside the River Deveron. The afternoon was spent shaping their observations and notes into the form of a poem.

In a similar vein, he prepared a week-long course on Writing and Nature for the Highland Society of Authors.

After many years, Angus Dunn is happy to talk or read to any audience and is capable of addressing most of the aspects of the writers’ craft.
